Portugal '25 de Abril' Bridge and Christo Rei, Almada
Cristo Rei (Christ the King) is a large statue of Jesus Christ located in Almada, Portugal, across the Tagus River from Lisbon. Inaugurated in 1959, it was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil and was created as a symbol of gratitude for Portugal's safety during World War II. The statue stands 28 meters tall on a pedestal that reaches 82 meters, offering panoramic views of Lisbon and the surrounding area. It has become a major religious and tourist landmark, representing Portugal's Catholic faith and devotion.
