Portugal Malhada do Louriçal

Malhada do Louriçal is a secluded cove near Cabo da Roca in Sintra, Portugal. Known for its rugged beauty, the beach features large pebbles and steep cliffs. A prominent rock formation, Pedra de Assentiz, stands with two sea-carved arches. The beach is accessible via a challenging hike through dense vegetation. Visitors can enjoy a small waterfall and tranquil surroundings, making it a great spot for photography, especially at sunset. However, it lacks facilities, and the terrain can be treacherous.

For photography at Malhada do Louriçal, visit during sunset for soft, warm light. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the dramatic cliffs and the sea-carved arches. A long exposure can smooth the water, enhancing the waterfall’s flow. Be mindful of the rugged terrain and plan your shots carefully.

There is a parking place at Cabo da Roca. Bring good shoes with you, because you'll have to climb down to the beach! If possible, you should take pictures/get there at low tide.

The track beside the Lighthouse is a closed area (penalty from 30- 300 €). It exists another path, nearly 300 meters before you arrive at the lighthouse. This way is a little bit longer, please use an outdoor application to find the right way. Finally, there exists a very small track down to the beach. After the last meters, which you have to climb carefully, you will arrive at this stunning spot. (C.J.)
