Romania Piatra Craiului National Park

Piatra Craiului National Park is a natural reserve located near Zarnesti Town, Brasov County ( cca. 50km from Brasov City). It is a unique place in my country, Romania, and possibly Europe, giving its jurassic age. Here, you can visit Zarnesti Gorge and take numerous climbing tracks. Another impressive landscape is La Zaplaz, in the way to La Om Peak(2244m), but in order to reach these natural beauties, skills and equipment are required. A local was telling us that these mountains are considered the most dangerous in the country, due to the limestone.
*** In the last photo you can see an wild orchid, out of the 41 species existing in these mountains ( 58 in Romania). The flower was spotted near Plaiul Foii Cabana ( in Plaiul Foii Village, ~15km from Zarnesti City) , located at the base of Piatra Craiului Mountains.

A small tax is required when visiting. You can visit [email protected] for further information. A car would be really useful, but that are trains that connect Zarnesti to Brasov, as well.
