Romania Toxic Lake Of Geamăna, Romania

Geamana is a location in Romania that, in the 1970s, was evacuated and flooded due to the decision of the Romanian government under Nicolae Ceaușescu. This was done to make space for mining, particularly the extraction of copper and other minerals. The village of Geamana was literally submerged, and the Geamana Church was one of the buildings submerged underwater. This incident serves as an example of the environmental impacts and social changes that occurred in certain parts of Romania during Ceaușescu's authoritarian rule, especially in connection with mining and industrialization.

For seeing the full beauty of this lake, a drone could be necessary, as there are very less ground spots for photographing. The lake is surrounded by millions of trees and bushes and it's hard to find a decent spot.

The way is easy and leads you to a gravel-road which surrounds the whole lake.
Here and there's a bit of mud in the summer, more so in the winter or rainy season, I guess.
