All streets of the Kremlin used to converge on Cathedral Square in the 15th century. The square is famous as the site of the coronation and funeral processions of Russian tsars and even still today, it is used in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Russia. Cathedral Square gets it name from the three cathedrals facing it: Cathedral of the Dormition, Cathedral of the Archangel, and Cathedral of the Annunciation.

The Kremlin sits on Borovitsky Hill, rising above the Moscow River in the center of the city.

The Moscow Kremlin’s territory and museums are open daily, except Thursdays, from 10am to 5pm. The ticket office is open 9:30am – 4:30pm.

The nearest metro stations are Borovitskaya and Biblioteka imeni Lenina.
