Saudi Arabia Catalina Seaplane Wreckage
Incredible photo spot, especially for night sky photography.
Photography Tips
Use wide angle lenses and also wait for the night, until the milkway is straight above the wreck.
Travel Information
Access is easy, but it's not allowed to drive directly to the wreck with the car. There's a designated car park, but from here it's not far away to the wreck itself. The area is guarded by military and police, so overnight stays are also not really allowed, but at the car park it might be ok to stay there for a night. Be prepared to plan your photography ->before<- the milkway is at its position, because police might come and ask you, what you're doing. They're talking long probably and then you'll miss your opportunity to shoot.
So better turn on your headlamps 30-60 mins before, to grab attention of the police upfront. Say, that you DO NOT work for National Geographic (they might ask), and that you're shooting just for fun and they might let you go.
