Singapore Jalan Kubor Cemetery, Kampong Glam

Located in the heart of the Arab Street / Bugis area in central Singapore, you can find this Muslim graveyard, abandoned and decaying, surrounded by gleaming high rise office buildings and public housing tenements.

Ornate stones litter a junglish scrub with old mausoleums and temple rises poking through the vines and ferns.

This site documents the various cultures that built this ethnically rich part of Singapore. While there is some archaeological research ongoing here, the site is tentatively scheduled for urban redevelopment.

In overcast conditions, you will have to shoot in low light. In strong sun conditions, high contrast issues with vegetation could produce specular hot spots.

Easy to reach by public transport and a short walk to the site.
