Slovenia Sv. Tomaž
Probably the best photo spot to photograph the church of St. Thomas in Slovenia. Very often there is a fog in the valley between you and the church giving it a great and moody atmosphere.
It is placed on a ridge and the road is long enough to fit many photographers (which is mostly the case).

Photography Tips
This is best suitable for telephoto lenses between 70-200mm on full-frame. Which was my choice. The advantage is to have a second camera body with a crop or 300mm option for a more detailed composition with the church alone. There could be an option to enter the meadow below the ridge and use the trees as a foreground but please DO NOT DO THAT WITHOUT A PERMISSION of the owner. Taking into account the number of photographers visiting the place I guess he/she would be not very happy about it...
ND could be helpful here, but not necessary I guess. Grad filter more so!
From my experience, the only option was sunrise - for the fog. But you can always try sunset! It was not worth it in my week (3x visits).
Since this was my first visit to Slovenia I can not tell whether the fogs emerge in every season or not. It is certain, the valley is kind of specific - meaning the fog is there very frequently even if there is no fog whatsoever in neighbouring places...

Travel Information
Krajn, Skofja Loka, Spodnja Luša - first turn left. The road is in good condition, at least until snows :)
There is probably a shorter path directly from Sv Tomaž village through the woods (3km) leading exactly to the place as well (visible on the map, but can not comment on the condition of that road). But I have not checked this option. Just saw fellow photographers emerge from the woods from that direction.
