Spain Port de Soller
Port de Soller is the most scenic harbour I have ever seen. The town is a fantastic tourist haven with beaches, beach side restaurants, Flamenco guitarists.
Photography Tips
To get this shot, you must wait until the blue hour begins, a good 40 minutes after sunset. When the town lights come on they will illuminate the land around the lighthouse buildings if you use a long, say 30 second exposure. Don't wait until it gets too late or the sky will go black. I find it hard to get good sunsets in Mallorca in August as the haze at the horizon obfuscates the sun just when it should start to glow.
Travel Information
There is a big, multi level parking garage in the town about 3 or 4 blocks from the waterfront. They lock it after dark so it is a challenge to get back in. You must wait for a car to exit the garage then duck in under the garage door when the car is leaving. Then once you get in your car and drive up to the door expecting it to open to allow you to exit, you must get out of your car and press a button way up high about the same level as your head to open the garage door. It was on the passenger side when we left. You can just walk along the beach and shoreline to get to the spot for taking the shot.
