Great view from the top of the highest mountain of La Palma. If there are clouds on the edge of Cala Taburiente you can see the so called „waterfall of clouds“.
This picture was taken 20 minutes before sunset.
Great opportunities for taking pictures in the early morning during sunrise too.

Photography Tips

Bring a tripod and warm clothes. It‘s 2400m high and much colder than in the lower parts. Can be very windy too.

Are the last 4 kilometers only closed to cars at night or is there a possibility to be there by foot at that time?

Hi Niko, The road for the cars is closed by a barrier. You can stay inside the area together with your car. You can hike above as well at all times. You shouldn‘t disturb the scientists by using flashlights. Birgit

Thanks for the answer. Of course, the scientists should not be disturbed at work. However, this place seems very interesting for stargazing.

Yes, this place is perfect for stargazing and photographing. This is the best Place in the western hemisphere. It‘s one of the darkest places and the air is very clean. The astrophotographers stay there overnight. Underneath the barrier is the visitor Center. There we saw people who slept in the car or in a roof Zentrum.
