This is probably the best view of Toledo at sunset, depending on the month of the year the sun will set just behind the Alcázar or from the side. But in any case, it is the best composition if you want to achieve a panoramic view of Toledo, surrounded by the river and the sunset in front, since in the "Ronda del Valle" the sunset will always be on a side out of angle.

Photography Tips

Comfortable shoes, a tripod, and a wide angle. If it has rained, be very careful as you have to climb some rocks briefly and you could slip. You can get the best shots at dusk, as the sun sets behind or to the side of the Alcazar. It is also a good place to take night photos, as the monuments are illuminated.

Travel Information

The access is not signposted but it is straightforward. Just stand outside the Alcántara Bridge and you will see a restaurant. Just behind the restaurant are some stones through which you can climb in 30 seconds to the spot. If you have a drone, you must know that the city is under CTR control and this location is just in front of a military base (absolutely forbidden to fly any drone).
I would choose the highest possible point on that terrain since it gives you the most zenithal view of the river surrounding the city.
You can access the cafeteria of the San Serbando castle. Although the castle is a youth hostel, the cafeteria is outside, they are on a terrace and access is free for everyone. Outside there is a small free parking lot.

First things first, congratulations for the photo, it's a spectacular image!!! The second thing is a question: have you used any filters in the shot? Best regards,

Well, I climbed up the slope from the road, I couldn't find a minimally stable place to set up the tripod and I thought about turning back and going down, but it seemed too risky. I looked up and saw that I could continue up a few metres to a fence that I thought was the infantry academy. So I said to myself, go up, jump the fence and then I'll explain to them that I started to climb and I were scared out of my wits and I couldn't get down and if they court martial me, then so be it. I got to the fence, jumped down and comfortably set up the tripod and spent a couple of hours there until the sunset was over. The whole time I didn't see any soldiers, just one or two young men. When I finished, I packed up my gear and headed for the court martial. It turned out that it was not the Infantry Academy but the Castillo de San Servando which is a youth hostel and I saved my bones from being shot for violating the security of military installations. So, I recommend anyone who wants to practice this location in the best conditions and maximum comfort, to make a reservation at the hostel - 16,90 € or 14,05 € if you are under 30 years old - and, in addition, you will have accommodation for the night after your shots. For very little more, you also get dinner and breakfast. A bargain.

Hi Antonio! I don't know if you tried to climb through the same rocks, but it's really easy if you don't have health problems and there are a lot of places in the field to place the tripod. It's easier in the lower part but the best view it's in the top, close in to the fence of the Castle. You don't need to go inside the castle at all, but if you want it's perfect too!

Yes, yes, I know, I've already seen that you recommend climbing behind the restaurant. I started climbing from the wrong place, just from the road before reaching the bridge, and it wasn't very comfortable in that area.
