Spain View of Roque Nublo
Roque Nublo (Cloud Cliff) is a volcanic cliff on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands in Spain. It is 80 meters high, and the top is 1,813 meters above sea level. It is one of the island's most famous landmarks, and is a protected natural monument.
Roque Nublo is the third highest peak on the island of Gran Canaria, after Morro de la Agujereada with 1,956 metres, and Pico de las Nieves with 1,949 metres.
The rock is located in Tejeda municipality, 3 km south of the city centre.
For Gran Canaria's indigenous population, Roque Nublo was a sacred monument and a pillar of heaven. It served as a ritual place for making sacrifices to the sun god.
