Spain Creativity of Júzcar
Júzcar, a small village with only around 240 inhabitants in the province of Málaga, Spain, is located in the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda, less than 150 km from the coastal city of Málaga. Although the village has no historical excavations, it attracted worldwide attention in 2011.
That year, Júzcar served as the backdrop for the animated film "The Smurfs". The US film crew gave the village a unique history by using around 9,000 liters of blue paint to create an authentic home for the Smurfs. Originally, this transformation was only planned to be temporary. However, the blue facades proved to be an attraction and the inhabitants decided to keep the Smurf blue. Since then, the village has attracted numerous visitors and enjoys its fame as a unique place with blue facades.
