Svalbard & Jan Mayen Islands The abandoned arctic mining town
Pyramiden is an old Russian mining city in Svalbard that has been abandoned more than 20 years ago (spring 1998) - Around an hour away by boat from Longyearbyen. A Russian land lost in Svalbard with now a few guardians to guide visitors and protect what is left. A surreal visit (of around 2h).
Photography Tips
Standard zoom such as 24-70 will mostly do most of the city view.
Some wider angles could be used inside the building and telephotos to isolate details. Visit in the afternoon might benefit from polariser when the sun is here to get good sky colour but usually not needed.
