Svalbard & Jan Mayen Islands Sarkofagen From Below
View of Sarkofagen Mountain from below. Just a few metres off the road on some fresh snow. This is JUST inside within the town limits for Longyearbyen, at it's southern-most point. This is probably the best spot in the town for seeing the Northern Lights as it is away from the light pollution.
Photography Tips
If you go during Winter, you will have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights as it is dark 24/7. Be sure to take your tripod, wide angle lens, and keep a very keen eye on the Aurora forecast.
Travel Information
If you have a car you can park at the bottom of the road. But you can walk here from anywhere in Longyearbyen. It's not a large town.
