Switzerland Alpnachersee, Alpnachstad
The spot is on the foothills of Pilatus Kulm but on the other side of the city, Lucerne. It is easily missed by hundreds of tourists who visit Pilatus. So, the spot is almost always empty.
Photography Tips
Bring out your ND filter and a tripod. The lake never settles down so you will need to use NDs to smooth it out. I would recommend carrying a wide angle as well as your telephoto lens here. Arrive for sunrise while sunsets cannot be as colorful.
Travel Information
The location of the spot is next to the Pilatus cog railway
when traveling from Lucern, take the exit Alpnach on route A8. If you are coming by train. Take one that stops at Alpnachstad, not Alpnach. Use the subway to exit the station and go the opposite way as to that of all the tourists.
