Switzerland Rhône Glacier

The Rhône Glacier is a glacier in the Swiss Alps and the source of the river Rhône and one of the primary contributors to Lake Geneva in the far eastern end of the Swiss canton of Valais.
Located very close to the Furka Pass, it is a destination where a lot of travelers stop by to take a short hike or to visit the famous Belvedere Hotel, which was built literally 5 minutes walking distance from the glacier.

The glacier is one of the main tourist attractions of the area so it is advised to go there either early in the morning or in the evening for sunset.
It is best to go there in Summer as any other period of the year could prevent you from accessing the trail due to snow.
The path is very rocky but well-marked, make sure to bring appropriate shoes for hiking.

Depending on the time of the day a tripod is not necessary, in this shot the camera was handheld.

The glacier is roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes driving from Interlaken and is only reachable by car. Because the glacier is located close to the Furka Pass road it is easily accessible and has a very large parking lot just by the Glacier, just keep in mind that the Pass might be closed due to snow in the winter months.
