Switzerland Gelmersee in the Bernese Alpes
This lake is a very special place. A few years ago you could hike around the lake. But then a rockslide interrupted the path. Even before that it had a dangerous place, which was only suitable for people who were very free from giddiness. A misstep and you would have fallen directly into the icy mountain lake. No chance to survive. Whether the circuit is open again, I do not know. But you can still hike from the north side to the back.
Travel Information
From the Grimsel Pass road, the world's steepest funicular railroad with a gradient of 106% goes to Lake Gelmer at Handegg. The ride alone is a huge experience. To go from the parking to the train, you can walk over a suspension bridge, also an impressive experience.
