Switzerland Amden - Winter
Amden is beautiful no matter when you visit.
This photo was taken at the first snow fall that reached the 1000m boarder. The spot from where I took this picture is directly on the road, so you could also simply access it by car. But it is better if you just walk around the area as it is a great hiking place. Not to mention the road is narrow and only one car fits at a time. If you visit during heavy snow fall, winter tires and a good 4WD car is a must. The road is not cleaned regularly so you have to feel confident in driving in snow.
There is a great restaurant nearby where you can eat before or after your hike, its called the Holzstübli.

If you have fog when you visit, wait for it to clear a bit so that the mountain in the backdrop is also a bit visible.

Travel Information
You can go by car, but it is better to use the ski lift and then walk.
If you go by car during the winter be properly prepared. Winter tires, snow chain or/and 4WD drive. Confident driving knowledge about how to behave in deep snow as the roads are not constantly maintained.
