Switzerland Oeschinen Lake, Switzerland
Up in the Alps and just east of the village of Kandersteg in Switzerland, is one of the most beautiful lakes in the region - Lake Oeschinen. At spots, the cliff walls rise straight up from the blue lake waters to the tops of snow-covered peaks. It is a breathtaking site.
Photography Tips
There are several spots to shoot at the lake, but from late fall to late spring/early summer the higher spots will usually be closed due to snow. The spot indicated here should be available from late spring to late fall. Additionally, the gondola access to the lake is closed for a week or two in late fall and late spring for maintenance. However, if you are into hiking the trail, which is a major climb, should be available most of the year.
Travel Information
From the City of Speiz, Switzerland, you will catch a train to Kandersteg. At Kandersteg follow the signs to the gondola, the trail up to the lake starts at the same location. From the top of the gondola follow the trail down to the lake, and then around the lake to the spot indicated.
