The path into the Gasterental valley leads up through a narrow gorge through which the river Kander flows thunderously down into the valley.

Photography Tips

The lighting conditions in the gorge are often difficult (deep shadows on the one hand, bright sky on the other), so days when the sky is overcast are particularly suitable.

Travel Information

From the end of the valley in Kandersteg (Sunnbüel cable car station) to this spot is quite a short but steep hike. You can also drive into the Gasterntal by car, but it is a very narrow road and may only be driven on at certain times. It is also subject to a charge.
