Tunisia Kobbet El Haoua, Tunis, Tunisia
The historic Beylikale building Kobbet El Houa in the municipality of La Marsa is considered a legendary landmark but is at risk of collapse. Due to a lack of financial resources, local authorities have only erected a warning sign cautioning against entering the deteriorating structure. Internet users expressed outrage upon seeing photos of this sign, criticizing the government's insufficient preservation efforts for monuments. The building, situated on the coast and surrounded by various hypotheses regarding its construction date, was once used for events and housed the private chambers of the Bey. In the 1960s, it was privatized and later transformed into restaurants, resulting in fundamental architectural changes. Due to property disputes, the building was closed to the public in 2016.
Photography Tips
The sunsets are really nice here. Bring a wide angle lens.
Travel Information
Pretty straight forwarded, just follow your navigation system, even though you'd better come from north, as the "south entrance" to that beach could be quite steep and narrow.
