The Amphitheater in El Djem, also known as the Amphitheater of Thysdrus, is an impressive Roman amphitheater located in the town of El Djem in Tunisia. It is the third-largest Roman amphitheater in the world, after the Colosseum in Rome and the Amphitheater in Capua.

Built in the 3rd century AD, the amphitheater could accommodate approximately 35,000 spectators. It was primarily used for gladiator contests and other public entertainments. The Amphitheater of El Djem is exceptionally well-preserved and impresses with its monumental architecture, serving as an outstanding example of Roman engineering in North Africa.

Today, the Amphitheater of El Djem is a significant tourist attraction and is occasionally used for cultural events and concerts. It has also served as a filming location for various movies and TV series, including the 2000 film "Gladiator."
