Tunisia Ksar Hallouf, Tunisia
Ksar Hallouf, a fortified village dating back to the 13th century, witnessed expansion in the mid-19th century before falling into disrepair by the early 20th century. Partial restoration efforts in 2006 transformed the village into a tourist attraction, although some of its Ghorfas remain partially collapsed. In 2020, the Tunisian government nominated Ksar Hallouf, along with several other villages, for UNESCO World Heritage status, recognizing its historical and cultural significance.
