Tunisia Star Wars Filmset: Star Wars Canyon, Tunisia
The small canyon at Sidi Bouhlel, also known as Maguer Gorge, is rightfully named "Star Wars Canyon" (Jundland Wastes) because a total of 9 scenes were filmed here. Among them are scenes from "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope," including the one where R2-D2 is attacked by Jawas, and Obi-Wan Kenobi encounters Tusken Raiders in "The Phantom Menace."
Photography Tips
Even though the first image isn't at the nicest location in this canyon, it is for sure the definite shooting point of one of the scenes, which you will find across the internet. The exact position I marked on the map. Bringh a wide angle lense and do not arrive too early, as the canyon is shadowed.
Travel Information
To get here is straight foward. Park in the huge parking lot and look up to the church to the left. You will a pathway up. Don't take this one, rather than keep right and find a small track into the canyon. Hike for approx. 550m and you will get to the exact spot
