Dolmabahçe Palace is one of Istanbul's most iconic landmarks, situated along the European coastline of the Bosphorus Strait. It served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1922, during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid I and later Sultan Abdülaziz.

The palace is renowned for its opulent and grandiose architecture, blending various European styles, notably Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical elements. It was designed by Ottoman Armenian architect Garabet Balyan and his son Nigoğayos Balyan, and its construction lasted from 1843 to 1856.
