The Basilica Cistern, also known as the Yerebatan Sarnıcı in Turkish, is one of the most fascinating historical sites in Istanbul, Turkey.
Located in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul, the cistern is situated just a short distance southwest of the Hagia Sophia. The cistern is an impressive architectural feat, measuring approximately 140 meters (460 feet) in length and 70 meters (230 feet) in width, with a capacity to hold over 80,000 cubic meters (2.8 million cubic feet) of water.
