Turkey (Türkiye) Uçhisar / Cappadocia
Uçhisar is dominated by a 60 meter high castle rock, which can be seen from afar. This rock is traversed by numerous underground passages and rooms, most of which are now filled in or impassable. They served as living quarters, and in Byzantine times also as a monastery. Originally about 1000 people lived in the castle rock, but today this block of rock is uninhabited. Also special are the fairy chimneys made of tufa, which characterize the surrounding landscape. Even today, the greater roughness of the ground is clearly recognizable. The view of the village from the west is considered to be particularly impressive. From here you can see the citadel, which is the tallest building in Uçhisar and resembles the shape of a large cylindrical tower. In the center of the village there is an underground gallery about 100 m long under some houses. It was built in older times in tuff rock and probably served as a link to the outside world to protect the fortress and its water supply during sieges.

Photography Tips
I was in Cappadocian in April a few years ago. It was still relatively cold in April. But the weather was good. In good light, the rocks glow in great colors.
I had the following lenses with me:
a strong wide-angle lens (17 mm),
a medium telephoto lens (28-135mm)
and when taking pictures from the hot air balloon, the 28-135 mm lens was fully sufficient.(
