United Arab Emirates Al Maqta Fort and Tower
Al Maqta Fort and Tower have guarded the entrance to Abu Dhabi Island for over 200 years with the narrow channel of water providing one of the few access points for camels crossing the wet sands in years gone past.
Photography Tips
This is a sensitive area so ensure you photograph appropriately (i.e avoid taking photos of bridges, government buildings etc).
Travel Information
It can be tricky getting here, but essentially take the E22 (Al Ain/Dubai Road) and take first exit after crossing Al Maqta Bridge. At the roundabout take the first exit so that effectively you're going back in the same direction you've come from. Go under the Maqta Bridge and park at the Fort which is under construction. The Tower stands separately in the Khor Al Maqta channel.
