United Kingdom Southend Pier
This spot is on the west side of the end of the pier where there is a dilapidated old wooden jetty leading to the water, which I thought made a nice composition
Photography Tips
My shot was on an exceptionally calm day with a mist in the air that diffused the sunlight. Under different conditions I'm not sure whether this would work so well, but perhaps it would be fine.
There's no problem using a tripod here, and if you're interested in portrait / street photography, the pier is always busy with fishermen, perhaps you might be able to get an interesting shot of one of them.

Travel Information
You can take a little train up and down the pier, or you can walk one or both ways. It's a nice walk, and I walked in both directions. You have to pay to walk up the pier but it was cheap - about £2 if I recall correctly (the train is obviously more, but I don't know how much). You can park on the road nearby for about £6 for 4 hours I think, and it was easy to find a parking spot, though I was there on a weekday out of season. The pay and display meters take credit cards.
