United Kingdom Blood Moon
The weather was proving tricky, I had wanted to be at the coast, but cloud and rain was on the forecast. Just around the corner from me I knew the Castle would be dark and there is a mound circled by trees which I had targeted. The forecast was clear skies but the moon was very high so I opted for the side of the castle and some trees as context.
Photography Tips
between 4:15 and 5:15 was the predicted prime eclipse. it was -5 degrees, so I had to be as close to that timeframe as possible. I used a 500mm lens with a 2x adapter which results in manual focus only. liveview and even viewfinder were barely showing the moon, so every shot was a guess. allow yourself plenty of test shots. that range also creates issues, even a tiny shift or bump proves challenging to find the target again. Tripod is essential.
