United Kingdom The River Test at Houghton
This spot is on the Monarch's Way long-distance footpath as it crosses the Test Valley at the village of Houghton. Much of the Test Valley is private land and there are not many places where you can see the river, but this is one spot where you can. There is an old wooden bridge which spans the river, but the riverbank has been fenced off by the landowner so it's impossible to photograph the bridge in the way you could in the past.
Photography Tips
The river runs roughly north-south so it's crosslit from either side at each end of the day. Either is good! Polarising filter is useful to remove glare from the water surface.
