United Kingdom The Valley of Rocks
The Valley of Rocks is an extremely photogenic area just outside of the town on Lynton in North Devon, UK. It is unusual as it is a dry valley that is immediately adjacent to the coast in an area of high cliffs. So you can enjoy the valley itself but then walk around to the coast path that hugs the clifftop on the outside of the valley and shoot wonderful seascape and cliff images.
Photography Tips
This location is best at sunset, a large hill to the east blocks direct light into the valley in the early morning. You can shoot the valley interior, climb the ridges to get both valley and coast into a wide shot or head around onto the coast path for seascapes. Lots of variety!
Travel Information
The valley is easily accessible about 3 mins drive from the outskirts of Lynton. There is a car park, you have to pay during the day between 10am-6pm but can park for free outside these times and it is always open so no problem to arrive and park pre-dawn.
