United Kingdom Kilt Rock view from ocean
The famous Kilt Rock waterfall is well known in the area around Portree. 99% of the visitors will park their car, walk to the viewpoint, take a photo and leave. Almost nobody knows about the small footpath leading down to the ocean offering another spectacular view.
Photography Tips
Bring a wide-angle lens and another person to create some cool composition at this location. You can use the rocks to form your foreground. It's always better to come here after some heavy rains due to the amount of water rushing down the waterfall.
Travel Information
You want to park at the designated parking area. Instead of walking towards the viewpoint, you want to walk away from it along the upper cliff. At some point, you will spot a small trail leading in zick zacks down to the ocean level. You will have to climb over some bigger and smaller rocks to get closer to the waterfall again for your photo. Be aware of falling rocks and slippery surfaces on the bottom.
