United Kingdom West India Dock, Canary Wharf
This image was shot at the bottom end of West India Dock in Canary Wharf.
Photography Tips
Known as the Phi Yacht, this particular boat is somewhat tricky to find. Therefore, follow the exact location pinned above. Take a tripod, ND filters, flash, plenty of batteries etc. West India Dock is incredible and beautiful on a sunny day but come night time it does light up revealing even more beauty. The buildings really do make for a splendid scene. Take some long exposure but be advised there are birds in the dock that locals feed. This boat is one of many Russian vessels sanctioned by the UK government and it does look pretty awesome especially at night. FYI don’t venture on to the right side of the dock. Sometimes the gate is open however it does close automatically. Once closed there is no way out. You’ll need to contact the harbour master or MET Police. Take front and left side images. Don’t however venture through open gates. They’re often difficult to miss so do keep to the pinned location. I got locked in last month and had to wait an hour to be let out.
Travel Information
I traveled via tube from Southall to Canary Wharf station. From there I hiked to West India Dock. Make sure you’re on the left side of the river.
