Leadenhall Market was definitively one of my personal highlights in London and to be honest I never heard of it before and just run through it while I was discovering the city by foot. Not only that this market is just an amazing piece of architecture, it is also has some very nice details like this root out of books. At first I thought Leadenhall was some kind of inspiration for the Harry Potter movies, but I am not quite sure if this is the case. Nonetheless a must see in London.

Important info: The flying books was only a temporary exhibition, so they are not there any more within this floor of the Leadenhall Market.

Photography Tips

If you want to have no people on your photo you have to be there very early on weekends, but side streets like this one just need a little bit of patience to get a shot without somebody running into your photo.
The most important thing for this image is in my opinion the gloom of this alley in contrast with bright light rays shining between the books from the roof. I suggest you to try the "Dodge & Burn" technique if you didn't get the results you wanted to. It's an easy way to complexify the light of this beautiful scene without giving it an unrealistic appearance.

We tried to track it down but learned that this particular exhibit was temporary and is no longer there. It was a little sad, but the market is still so beautiful and amazing and we ended up hanging out with a Londoner who showed us around some other areas as well. All in all an amazing trip! I wish we could have seen the flying books in person but we can still enjoy your photographs.

Oh, I didn't know that!! It looked like so much effort that I thought that it was there forever... so sorry to hear that, but thanks for the info, I will add that in the description. Glad that you still liked the place though. I really enjoyed it as well and it's still magical.
