Travel Information
The hike begins from “The Grotto” shuttle stop. From there, cross the street to where the Virgin River is, and cross the bridge. At the fork after the bridge, stay right, following the sign to Angels Landing. The hike is a clear path along the Virgin River with a slight incline for the first mile or so. Then, very steep switchbacks take you into a shaded canyon. The trail is very easy to follow, but the switchbacks are pretty strenuous. At the top of the switchbacks, follow the signs that lead you to Angels Landing. At this point, the hike gets pretty scary for those that are afraid of heights. The hike is not overly challenging, and kids commonly complete the hike but it is not recommended for hikers who have little experience. You will hike along the ridge line with chains to guide you all the way to the end. The drop on either side is about 1,000 feet at times, and can be kind of disorienting. The views of the canyon are unbeatable from Angels Landing.
