Moonbow is a phenomenon that occurs on a clear night during a full moon when the moonlight gets reflected off of the water creating a faint rainbow. In Yosemite, you can experience this on a full moon night (and on the day before or the day after) in April, May and possibly in June at around 11 pm.

Photography Tips

To shoot the moonbow, get the spot an hour after the moonrise on a full moon day (or a day before or the day after) and when the sky is clear of clouds. A tripod is absolutely essential as the exposure time could be as long as 1 minute. As it will be very dark, turn off autofocus and manually focus the lens using Live View on your DSLR.
