Bad water basin is the lowest point in the USA, about 100m below sea level as I recall.

Photography Tips

Most of the salt is a yucky grey color, but if you walk out and towards the right away from the parking area you'll find a large enough area of whitish salt to fill the frame. If you want the hills lit up like this shot, be there for sunrise. Sunsets are also good though, but different.
