USA Rough Ridge Overlook, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina
Rough Ridge is a rocky, angular precipice which offers breath-taking summit views of nearby Grandfather Mountain and the Linn Cove Viaduct. This is one of the more popular view along the Blue Ridge Parkway and is a great sunrise location.
The trail, a short but rocky 1.2 miles round-trip, departs from an overlook off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Boone, NC, at milepost 302.8. The trail intersects with the longer Tanawha trail. This hike is great anytime of the year, but especially during autumn for stunning views of the fall colours.
