West Point is the US Military Academy with buildings going back to the 1700's (old for the US). Perched on the edge of the Hudson River there are plenty of big and detail pictures

Photography Tips

Tripods are ok. On Saturday there are parades by the corps of cadets - check the website for times. Weekdays are best to avoid the tourists. You can roam the base except for the barracks for the students. There are tours which give a great overview and take you to many of the photographic points.

Travel Information

50 miles from New York it is an easy drive or bus ride. There is the normal security checkpoint to get on the base but due to the number of tourists it is pretty smooth.
