Unfortunately, the arch has fallen victim to vandals and no longer exists.

Perhaps the most famous arch photographed in Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada is Windstone Arch. Many people fail to locate it because the arch itself is less than 2 feet tall. Photos are deceptive.

Photography Tips

You’ll need a short tripod to set up in the very cramped space in the tiny cave. Early morning or late afternoon works best. Contrasts during mid-day are harsh.

Travel Information

From I-15, turn southeast on the Valley of Fire Highway and drive 15 miles to Campground Road. Turn left and drive about 100 feet to a gravel pullout on the right. Walk NNE about 200 feet to a small rock cluster. You’ll see a small opening as you approach that’s only about 4 feet high. That’s called Firestone Cave. Inside, you’ll find Windstone Arch.
