USA Petroglyph Canyon Parking

Zion National Park visitation has grown tremendously year after year. This is understandable because it is quite beautiful and because of the state of Utah’s seemingly non-stop television ads promoting the “Big Five” referring to the five national parks located in the state. I live near the Zion and visit often but usually avoid the crowds as much as possible by visiting on weekdays and spending most of my time on the less visited east side of the park. I can spend hours there without coming across another person, particularly during winter. This spot however is just off and above the road. While I’m calling this spot “Petroglyph Canyon Parking” (because that’s where you park for that canyon), the photo looks toward the south, away from that canyon.

Travel Information

From the Zion National Park East entrance drive 2.5 miles (4 km) to a large pullout on the left (south) side of the road. There’s room for 5 or 6 vehicles to park. Cross the road and scramble up the sandstone shelf.
