From my perspective, there’s no better time to be at Valley of Fire State Park than immediately after a heavy rainstorm. The sandstone becomes saturated, enriching the colors even more. This was one of those days.

Travel Information

From the Valley of Fire Visitor Center drive 5 miles (8 km) up Mouse Tank Road to the Duck Rock Rte. access road. The road is usually closed but there is room to park there just off of Mouse Tank Rd. Cross the road and walk about 200 meters toward the White Domes parking lot. Then scramble up the sandstone on your left.
