USA Reflection Canyon, Utah
Reflection Canyon is a stunning, remote slot canyon located in the eastern part of Lake Powell, in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, on the border of Utah and Arizona. It is known for its distinctive, winding shape and beautiful reflections of the canyon walls in the water below, creating a striking visual effect. The canyon is accessible by a challenging hike or by boat, and it offers spectacular views, especially at sunrise and sunset. Due to its remote location, it attracts photographers and adventurous hikers, but requires preparation for safe access.
Photography Tips
Bring a tent and bring plenty of water because the best way to photograph this location is at sunrise. The best time of the year is probably between April and May when the water level in the river is at its lowest point. That way, the white stones and green algae are more exposed.
Travel Information
It is a 2-hour drive from Escalante on a dirt road where an AWD is highly recommended.
From the parking lot area, it is a 5-hour hike (plus minus one hour, depending on your navigation skills) through the stony desert of southern Utah. The hike itself is already beautiful, but the reward when you eventually arrive at Reflection Canyon is priceless.
