USA Kolob Terrace Road
Virtually every mile of this road offers a photo composition at virtually any time of the day or year, although since I live nearby I might be a bit biased. In this case the corral with the Milky Way rising behind it was worth the late evening drive. If making the drive at night, watch carefully for mule deer (which are everywhere!) and the occasional elk.
Photography Tips
Settings for this shot were 14mm, f/2.8, 30 seconds, ISO 6400. Although I’ve never had an issue with one, this is rattlesnake country and they are night predators, so watch where you set up. They typically make every effort to avoid people but an unlucky step would be...unlucky. I always keep a bright flashlight pointed where I walk and set up, then turn on a red headlamp for photo prep.
