Great Basin National Park is one of the least visited national parks in the U.S. due to it’s remoteness. It’s remoteness is also why it’s is part of the Night Skies Program within the National Parks System. There is virtually no light pollution at all, makin the park a great location for night sky photography. The park is also home to several bristlecone pine groves. Bristlecone pine trees are believed to be the oldest trees on earth with some estimated to be more than 5,000 years old. The highest point in the park is Wheeler Peak which stands at 13,060 feet. This old remnant of a vehicle is near the entrance to the park.
