USA Pine Creek
Pine Creek is a fun and highly photogenic location year round with the exception being immediately after monsoon rains flood the normally dry drainage. It contains numerous short but scenic slot sections including one section that appears to be a dead end until you’re standing within a few feet of a small archway (approximately 4 feet high) that allows you to continue through the slot. During Autumn, the drainage is awash in color.
Photography Tips
These pictures were taken on October 25th beginning at the pullout identified here and south (toward the small tunnel on SR9) for about 3/4 mile (1.2 km). There are hundreds of compositions possible along the creek bottom and/or by scrambling up the sandstone shelves along the drainage.
Travel Information
From the east end of the small tunnel, drive 2.3 miles (3.7 km) to the pullout on the right. From there, it’s easy to drop into the (normally) dry Pine Creek.
