USA Leaving Valley of Fire

This is a view of the Nevada landscape just outside of Valley of Fire State Park. About an hour’s drive north of Las Vegas, this part of Nevada is generally barren and dull but Valley of Fire is a brilliant splash of color. The area just outside of the park is also very colorful and photogenic. This was taken a mile or so east of the visitor center.

I like to be here during golden hour or on cloudy days when the colors of the sandstone are more rich. Even better immediately after a recent rain.

This photo was taken about .3 miles (.48 km) east of the Elephant Rock parking area.
