USA Mossy Cave
If you want to avoid the crowds at Bryce Canyon, you can get a taste of what Bryce has to offer on the Mossy Cave trail. The short 10 minute hike to the cave is far more impressive than the tiny cave itself which isn’t really very photogenic. The views of the brilliant red/orange sandstone hoodoos are worth the effort though. The area across the road is even better, with bright orange, white, and yellow hues.
Photography Tips
Arrive very early or late in the afternoon (best). The parking lot fills fast, I suspect by tourists who think the cave and the little waterfall will be better than they are.
Travel Information
Drive 14 miles (22.5 km) east of the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center to the Mossy Cave parking lot on the south side of highway 12. This photo was taken about 5 minutes up the trail from the parking lot.
